Great Twitter Feeds to Follow for Nursing Jobs

Furthering your nursing education, whether by completing an RN to BSN program or earning a Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree, is a great start to pursuing a more exciting and fulfilling nursing career. To take full advantage of a higher education, use all the tools available in order to assure the best career options and opportunities are open to you.

In today’s highly technological and Internet-based world, using social media applications to market and seek out career options is becoming a popular and effective instrument that those “in the know” are using to get ahead in their field.

One of the most popular and powerful social media outlets available is Twitter. Twitter is not just a social website used to chat with friends and family. It is used by creative minds for a host of reasons, one of which is to advertise job openings and career opportunities.  Fortunately for nurses, there are many Twitter “feeds” that they can follow which focus solely on nursing job opportunities and information.

Nursing Job Twitter Feeds

Location Specific

Twitter feeds can be very broad in information, very specific, or anywhere in between. This may make it difficult to really narrow down the feeds you need to look for. One way to hone in on a nursing job that will fit your specific needs is to focus on the employment location.  Twitter has thousands of feeds that are specific to an individual state and sometimes specific cities as well.

Here are a few examples of nursing job Twitter feeds, by location, that you can follow:

When you log into Twitter, you can use the search feature to find location-based Twitter feeds for your local area. All of these feeds offer up to date job postings and information within their associated area. A lot of them will list jobs every hour or more frequently.

Traveling Nurses

Many nurses like the flexibility of travel assignments, and Twitter has feeds that cater to travel nurses. They offer traveling tips, job information, tips on how to secure a traveling nurse job, and of course, job postings. Here are a few to get you started. Remember that you may use the Twitter search feature to find more:

  • The American Journal of Nursing (@AmJNurs) provides links to articles on topics to help you stay up-to-date on the nursing industry.
  • Sharp Healthcare (@SharpRNjobs) and Working Nurse (@WorkingNurse) both provide plenty of current information for nurses, as well as job listings.
  • Christian Nurse (@ChristianNurse) has articles for those interested in incorporating religion into their profession.

Feeds for Job Search Only

While it can be easy to get lost in the many thousands of feeds and individual tweets you can read in a day, it is important to remain focused on the task at hand. For those who may become distracted or who simply do not have the time to weed through hundreds of tweets, here are some feeds that will give you just what you need – available job positions.

Landing that perfect nursing job is definitely an attainable goal if you put forth the effort. If you’re  looking to find a more exciting and lucrative position, and something that is highly compatible with your training or desired location, then following Twitter feeds, without a doubt, can prove to be a very useful tool.
