American Opportunity Tax Credit

Students in Jacksonville University’s online MSN program may be eligible to receive a tax credit for their course materials and tuition in years 2009 and 2010. According to the IRS.gov website, the American Opportunity Credit (formerly known as the Hope Credit) “adds required course materials to the list of qualifying expenses and allows the credit to be claimed for four post-secondary education years instead of two. Many of those eligible will qualify for the maximum annual credit of $2,500 per student”. Ask your accountant about this tax credit for your books and tuition or visit the American Opportunity Tax Credit website.
